El Mexicano® Nogada Sauce

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Hope you all are having a great time prepping for all the festivities! If your plans include having friends and family over or being in the kitchen creating some delicious, comforting recipes then we have a great quick and easy traditional Nogada Sauce recipe to share with you that makes the perfect complement to the traditional dish, Chiles en Nogada.

Chiles en Nogada, roasted poblano chilies stuffed with a savory-sweet filling of ground meat, fruit and nuts and covered with Nogada sauce, is a classic Mexican dish for the holidays. The sauce is our favorite part of the recipe because it’s so creamy and full of flavor.

Try it out for yourself and let us know what you think 😉

EL MEXICANO® NOGADA SAUCE

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups Walnuts

2 cups Cashews (soaked)*

2 1/2 cups Crema Mexicana (for a heavier sauce) or Crema Casera® (for a lighter sauce)

4 oz Queso Fresco Casero® or Queso Fresco Cremoso®

Pinch of Cinnamon or to taste

Cane Sugar or Honey to taste

Salt to taste

FOR GARNISH:

Pomegranate seeds

Fresh parsley leaves

PREPARATION:

Add all ingredients into blender or food processor and blend until smooth and silky, about 3 minutes. Adjust taste with sweetener of choice and salt.

*Soak cashews in water before blending to allow them to soften and create a smoother, creamier sauce.

PS: Chiles en Nogada are also a favorite for Mexican Independence celebrations because the top is garnished with a white Nogada sauce, red pomegranate seeds and green parsley which resemble the colors of the Mexican flag 😉

Happy Holidays from the Marquez Family!
